All About Papers and Printing

Curious about what you can expect from my paper prints?

When I’m not exploring and photographing the landscapes of the West on film, I help other artists bring their artwork to life through my work as a professional fine art printmaker.

I feel fortunate to tap into this knowledge and skill to create my own work, carefully considering each detail to share with you in tangible form.

Part of this process includes testing and choosing what papers to print with, along with a proofing process to ensure color accuracy where the printed image matches what is seen on screen.

All of my prints are made with archival pigment ink and acid-free paper to produce museum-quality fine art giclee prints.

The ink resists fading and the paper stands the test of time so you can enjoy these pieces for a lifetime and pass them down for generations.

As a fine art printmaker, my absolute favorite papers are Epson Signature Fine Art papers; Cold Press Bright and Metallic Photo Paper. The colors and vibe of the image itself influences my paper choice and I also consider the qualities of each paper for the overall intended effect.

Cold Press Bright is 100% cotton rag, 340 gsm paper. The matte surface is slightly textured and has a thicker feel and weight. This paper is pure white and akin to watercolor paper; it speaks to images that are like a painting.

Metallic Photo Paper is 257 gsm, high gloss photographic paper that provides a unique metallic surface. The paper gives a luminous effect to the image with extreme sharpness.

Slowing down is one of my favorite things about shooting landscapes on film and that intention doesn’t stop when the photograph is made; the deliberate process continues beyond in the print studio. Each high-quality print also comes with a card containing details about the photograph’s location, film stock, and year.

I personally print and package each piece so you can expect saturated, high-depth colors where the vibrancy and details are fully captured. The care channeled into my landscape prints helps each image feel like home and come alive in your space.
